Message from Vishwaguru Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Swami Maheshwaranandaji on the occasion of Holi, 21 March 2019

Blessed Selves, Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Holi is a celebration of joy and color that celebrates the victory of good over evil.

In short, this is the mythical background:

Holika was the sister of the demon king Hiranyakashyapu and she owned the siddhi that fire could not burn her. King Hiranyakashyapu was the father of a very pious son, Prahlad. One day, the king, who wanted to get rid of his son, told Holika to put Prahlad on her lap and sit with him in the middle of a burning pyre. However, Holika herself burned to ashes and left Bhakta Prahlad completely untouched by the fire.

On The Auspicious Occasion Of Holi

This is the case when someone turns against the cosmic principles - their siddhis disappear. In the legend of Holi, King Hiranyakashyapu represents asuri shakti, all the negative and evil qualities. Holika represents the fire of jealousy, anger and hatred. Prahlad stands for trust, love, understanding, faith and justice.

On the eve of Holi, it is traditional to burn a tree in symbolic memory of Holika, and on the following day, the victory of the good personified in Bhakta Prahlad is celebrated.
