New Sloths In St Augustine From Busch Gardens

Posted on by admin

The most recent baby, born on April 2, is a Linne's two-toed sloth. It has been available for public viewing nearly since birth, in the park's Animal Care Center and Zoo Hospital. Augustine Alligator Farm proudly unveils its new Sloth Exhibit, where two Hoffman's two-toes sloths will live in a rainforest habitat. On Anastasia Island, 1.5 mile from the Bridge of Lions. 999 Anastasia Blvd, St. Augustine, FL, 32080. Aug 15, 2019 Posted Aug 15, 2019 at 9:12 AM Teddy, a 44-year-old male sloth, and Grizzly, a 34-year-old female, relocated from Busch Gardens Tampa Bay to the St. Augustine Alligator Farm. Teddy and Grizzly live. We were most excited about seeing the new-to-the-farm sloths that have recently arrived from Busch Gardens in Tampa. They are now in their retirement years, and plan to relax and enjoy St. We are considering doing the sloth encounter for $40 a person, for a 30 minute interaction. They are a pair of Hoffman’s two-toed sloths who were acquired from Busch Gardens in the spring. Since then, the mammals were first quarantined for a period, and now they’re just waiting for.

IN THIS REMARKABLE ENCOUNTER, YOU’LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO INTERACT WITH TWO OF THE ZOO’S MOST CHARISMATIC MAMMALS—OUR HOFFMAN’S TWO-TOED SLOTHS, TEDDY AND GRIZZLY!

These sloths came to the Alligator Farm in the summer of 2019 after a long tenure at Busch Gardens in Tampa, where they were the parents to many baby sloths. No longer in their reproductive years, the couple has retired at the Alligator Farm. The Rainforest Sloth Encounter places you up close and personal with the sloths, even providing opportunities to touch these shy animals. A short introduction will provide an overview of the species’ habitats, behaviors, and diet, and you’ll also learn about the conservation work being done at the Alligator Farm to protect sloths throughout the world. You’ll then have a 15 to 20-minute physical encounter with the sloths, as our keepers attempt to feed Teddy and Grizzly their favorite fruits and veggies.
*You are strongly encouraged to read about Hoffman’s two-toed sloths before your Rainforest Sloth Encounter to make the most of your experience. Photography is permitted and encouraged, but no food or drink are allowed in the Rainforest Sloth Encounter. Participants must stay with our zookeepers and educators at all times in order to ensure the health and safety of our animals.
